The Choshen is one of the eight items of the Bigdei Kehuna (priestly clothing) that the Kohen Gadol (High Priest) wears during his service. It is woven from five different strings: one string of linen, three woolen strings in the color of techelet (violet-blue), argaman (purple), and shani (scarlet), and one thin strand of gold. The choshen is lined with twelve precious stones. Engraved on each stone is one of the names of the twelve tribes of Israel
The choshen is worn over the chest and it is attached to the Ephod by two golden chains in the top two corners and two woolen strings at the bottom two corners.
